Capt. Philip Rothrock a U.S. naval veteran is no stranger to boats or the water. Having served three tours onboard a destroyer and crossing the North Atlantic during the winter months certainly earned his sea legs. With roots in Central Florida and countless hours fishing and boating the St. Johns River and Mosquito Lagoon, it’s no surprise Philip found his place in the marine industry after his time in the Navy.
Like so many boat dealers, Philip Rothrock’s first sale was that of his own boat. Realizing a need for new and used boats he founded Rothrock Marine in 1996 committing to provide his customers, whom he considers friends, the best products possible backed by top quality service.
Following a visit to the Composite Research (CRI) factory in 2009, Philip quickly became a believer in the craftsmanship and quality of boats being built. Also enticed by the confidence of CRI’s 10-year transferable hull warranty, a partnership was forged. Understanding that boating tech is always changing, so is the buying process to which Philip says, “Potential buyers are well educated and more price aware than ever before. Dealers have to adjust their mindsets and learn a business that’s almost exclusively driven by the Internet. Boat buyers shop online, they do their research, and find dealers who stock the models they want to buy. They leave their homes with directions to the front door and print out of exactly what they want to board and inspect.” Spending most of their advertising dollars on Internet advertising venues, Rothrock Marine understands the importance of a highly visible online presence and touts over 2,000+ likes on the dealership’s Facebook page.

A unique operation, Rothrock Marine has consciously made the choice to separate their sales and service locations allowing customers to visit their showroom even during inclement weather.
